Obidient movement reels as director resigns, questions Peter Obi's leadership

The Obidient Movement faced a significant blow on Thursday as Morris Monye, its Director of Mobilization, announced his resignation, citing a lack of direction and personal sacrifices.
In a candid X post, Monye revealed that after nearly a year in the role, the movement’s short, medium, and long-term plans remain unmet, exacerbated by a poor showing in the recent Anambra election.
Monye’s most striking revelation was his claim that Peter Obi, the movement’s figurehead, has shown no interest in mobilization efforts.
“In fact, Mr. Peter Obi has never asked what we are doing in mobilization. No communication. Nothing,” he wrote, highlighting a perceived leadership vacuum.
The outgoing director also disclosed personal hardships, including non-stop harassment from government sympathizers and a staggering N40 million of his own money spent on events, travels, and rural campaigns.
“It’s a role that puts a target on your back,” Monye lamented, noting the toll on his family.
As the movement grapples with this exit, questions loom over its future and Obi’s ability to steer it forward.
