PHOTO Inside Delta Asaba residents bemoans 'Smelly' Coker junction

Asaba, Delta – Residents of Asaba, the Delta state capital have expressed worries over the environmental nuisances being constituted around over head bridge by the popular Coker junction.

The resident, who spoke to BENDEL Mirror on Thursday lamented that every available space around the over head bridge has turned to toilet as they usually encounter offensive smell in the area.

According to the residents, the environmental sanitation taskforce seems to be overwhelmed by persons who turned the area to their abode to constitute their nuisance.

"Everywhere around Coker smelling like hell. Even you see taskforce, they're not doing anything about it.. . and they can not be there all the time.

"This is pure open defecation; shit, piece everywhere.", One resident of the area fumes

They called on the environmental taskforce to be decisive in the sanitization of Asaba and it environ, noting, they should go beyond ban on Okada and metal scavenging popularly known as Iron condemn.

Our correspondent who visited the area however suggested strict enforcement of environmental laws, and the construction of public toilets, at strategic locations to further check open defecation and improve the health of residents.
