Oborevwori Faces Sharp Criticism Over Neglect of Delta’s Leisure park, health facilities

Udu, Delta – A pointed social media post by Delta State-based activist and self-described “good governance advocate” @Efeom (Delta Finest) has spotlighted what the poster describes as severe neglect at the Oleri Leisure Resorts and certain state healthcare facilities under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.

In a post published on X Sunday that has drawn local attention, @Efeom directly tagged the governor and questioned his governance record ahead of any potential second-term bid.

The caption reads: “If I say @RtHonSheriff doesn’t know the meaning of governance, some Ozighe data boys will start crying under my comment. Fellow Nigerians, this is what a resort and some healthcare facilities look like under @RtHonSheriff administration, and he still want a second tenure. SMH🤦”

The Oleri Leisure Resorts (also referred to as Delta Leisure Resorts or Delta Leisure Park) is not a new initiative, as planning dates back to 2011 under then-Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, when it was unveiled as a major tourism project estimated at N49 billion.

DAILY South Nigeria understands that the ambitious development in Oleri, Udu Local Government Area, near Warri, was intended to include a 5-star and 3-star hotel, water park, retail village, casino, golf course, chalets, and cultural attractions across roughly 15–300 hectares.

Some development reportedly occurred under Governor Ifeanyi Okowa (2015–2023), with claims the park was “largely built” between 2021–2022 and officially opened in January 2023. However, multiple local reports have since labeled the site “abandoned,” calling on Oborevwori to revive it for job creation, tourism revenue, and economic growth.

The X post

Oborevwori, who assumed office on May 29, 2023, after serving as Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, has focused his administration on infrastructure projects such as road construction and flyovers.

Critics like @Efeom argue that flagship legacy projects like Oleri have been left to deteriorate.

The healthcare facility images were not explicitly identified in the post, but they appear to show general conditions of disrepair consistent with the poster’s broader critique of public infrastructure.

The post taps into ongoing debates in Delta State about infrastructure maintenance, tourism development, and accountability as Oborevwori’s term progresses.

As of this report, neither the Delta State Government nor Governor Oborevwori has issued a direct response to the specific post. The visuals have sparked fresh calls online for the administration to address the condition of Oleri and similar public assets.
