Delta arrests criminal suspects at Koka Interchange.

Asaba, Delta – In a bid to curb criminal activities and reduce crime in Delta State, the Task Force on Environment arrested 17 suspected vandals during an early morning operation at the Koka Interchange on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

The suspects, who were apprehended while still sleeping under the bridge, are believed to have turned the interchange and its environs into a hub for criminal activities.

They were detained for allegedly vandalizing government assets, defacing the area, and threatening public safety.

The operation, led by Task Force Chairman Chief Godspower Asiuwhu, followed reports of rising insecurity in the vicinity.

Among those arrested were individuals allegedly from northern parts of the country who had been illegally occupying the area.

The task force, working in collaboration with security agencies, handed the suspects over to the Nigeria Police Force at the state command headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution.

This decisive action is part of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to ensuring peace and security across Delta State. The governor, under his MORE Agenda, has reiterated a zero-tolerance policy for criminal activities, emphasizing the need for a secure environment to foster development and protect residents.

Chief Asiuwhu commended the efforts of the task force marshals, reaffirming their resolve to sustain similar operations across the state. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, assuring the public that the state government would not relent in its efforts to make Delta a safe and prosperous place for all.
