Ikhueniro, Edo – A burglar has gained access to a house in Ikhueniro community, in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of Edo state in the early hours of Monday, and stole mainly food items while the occupants were asleep.

The occupants raised the alarm after they learnt that the food items were missing from where they were stored in the house.

According to the owner of the items who do not want her name mentioned, they had slept with their doors and windows opened for "breeze to come in" due to excessive heat being experienced in recent times.

"Light no dey; and na so so heat dis period. Person no dey fit sleep well, na we open our windows and doors open make breeze to come in. Na so we take sleep.

"We wake up come see say thief enter the house, pack our Melon, Ogbono, rice, pepper, palm oil, groundnut oil, beans, even Maggie", the soft spoken mother of three narrated to BENDEL Mirror in pidgin English

When asked if the incident has been reported at the police station, she further maintained, "no need to go report the matter to police. Na waste of time and money."
