House wife, partner declared wanted for indecent sexual activities

Okogbo, Edo - A house wife and mother of three kids, Oghenerukewe Judith Agada and her partner identified as Jennifer Aigbe have incurred the wrath of the inhabitants of Okogbo village in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo state after they engaged in same sex activities (lesbianism).

The incident is said to have occurred on January 30, 2025 when both women were allegedly caught making love right in the latter's bedroom.

Both women were said to have been seen frequently together at odd hours which aroused the curiosity of some persons in the community.

A resident and close neighbour of Jennifer alerted some persons in the community after she discreetly heard both women moaning and screaming while enjoying the act.

"They were eventually caught naked and taken to the Chief Priest of Okogbo ancestral shrine who pronounced them guilty of having defiled the gods of the land", an Elder of the community, Pa Benson Osifo told our reporter.

He revealed that the two women were taken to the community's ancestral shrine in the forest where they were expected to stay for two days before the cleansing ceremonies.

"Unfortunately, they escaped and the community had no choice but to report the incident to the police with the view of having them arrested to face the consequences of their immoral lifestyle which is strictly forbidden in our community", he added.

Meanwhile, the police in Benin City have declared both suspects wanted for engaging in indecent sexual activities.

A police bulletin issued in Benin City on 3rd February ,2025 urged members of the public with any useful information that might lead to the arrest of the two suspects to report to the nearest police station within and outside Edo state for a handsome reward.

Same-sex marriage or relationship is considered a taboo in most Nigerian communities, and offenders are required to perform rigorous traditional cleansing rituals which can lead to death.
It's also a criminal offense . The 2014 Anti same sex laws prescribes 10-14 years imprisonment for LGTB persons in Nigeria.
