'My wife is threatening my life', Content creator cries out, petitions police

Benin, Edo – A Nigerian content creator, Osifo Eliab, has filed a formal petition with the Nigerian Police Force, at the Area J Area command, Elemero Ibeju-lekki Lagos state, alleging that his wife, Mabel Osifo has been making threats against his life.
The petition, dated July 24, 2025, follows a series of disturbing claims made by the Austria-based content creator, who alleged that unknown persons have been calling him on phone in the guise of settling the dispute between him and his wife.
According to Eliab, the unending calls in the wake of their domestic dispute has caused him sleepless nights due to fear of being attacked.
"I am a content creator married to one Mabel Osifo who is based in Austria we were legally married in 2022 in Austria but I deported myself to Nigeria in May 2024 because she was trying to alleged me of the offence I did not commit. Ever since I arrived in Nigeria she has been threatening me and equally posting my Dad pictures on social media, and wrote RIP to my mum pictures and my dad tagging all my family members with different negative names.
"For the past three months i have been getting death threats from unknown gunmen. Yesterday being 23-7-2025 at about 11pm at my house at Onosa, unknown number called me that I should come outside that they are soldiers and they come from Ikeja cantonment. They refused to tell me who sent them and their mission in my house. I got scared and in the process my laptop got broken", Eliab stated in the petition sighted by BENDEL Mirror
He appealed to the Nigerian police to swiftly investigate his petition "with a view to bringing the culprits to book", as the threats have continued unabated.
Though, the police has acknowledged receipt of the petition but has not released an official statement on the matter, sources indicated that investigations are underway to ascertain the credibility of the allegations and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
Meanwhile, in a viral social media video, Mabel, who is currently facing controversy, was seen stating that she would influence the police to arrest and detain an unnamed woman.
In the video available to this online newspaper, Mabel was apparently threatening the unnamed lady she had suspected was having an intimate affair with her husband, Eliab.
"i know say Nigeria police corrupt. I dey there; i go pay money for you to be locked up", She said in pidgin English
This case underscores the growing visibility of domestic disputes involving media influencers as well as public figures in Nigeria, raising questions about privacy, safety, and the role of social media in amplifying such issues.
