Entrepreneur seeks urgent NAFDAC assistance amid product registration delays

Akure, Ondo – A local entrepreneur from Ondo State, known on X as @sarnchos, has publicly appealed for urgent intervention from the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) due to ongoing delays in registering his product, Sarnchos Detox Tea.

The plea, posted on Thursday, highlights a frustrating ordeal that has persisted for over eight months.

In his post, @sarnchos detailed submitting his product registration application on February 3, 2025.

However, he cited ongoing technical issues with the NAFDAC Automated Production Administration and Monitoring System (NAPAMS) website as a major impediment to fulfilling compliance directives.

“I started my product registration application since Feb 3, but can’t fulfill the compliance directive due to ongoing NAPAMS website issues for weeks now. Kindly assist urgently, as this delay affects my business. I appreciate your support!” he wrote, tagging @NafdacAgency to draw attention to his plight.

The entrepreneur’s struggles are part of a broader narrative shared in a related thread, where he recounted a years-long journey with NAFDAC, beginning with an abandoned attempt to register laundry starch in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

His renewed efforts with Sarnchos Detox Tea in 2023 faced procedural changes, financial burdens amid Nigeria’s high inflation, and a lengthy approval process.

Despite a factory inspection in April 2025 and laboratory sample submission in May, he has been left in limbo for four months, far exceeding the agency’s stated 90-working-day timeline for food product registration, as outlined on the official NAFDAC website.

This technical failure has compounded the entrepreneur’s challenges, echoing a systemic issue that NAFDAC has yet to address publicly.

The delay may not only stalls @sarnchos’ market entry but also jeopardizes his financial stability, given the significant costs incurred during the process.

NAFDAC has not responded to the public appeal, raising concerns about the agency’s responsiveness to small business owners.
