FRSC partners automobile technicians in Ekiti to boost road safety

Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti – In a groundbreaking move to enhance road safety, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ekiti Sector Command has initiated a strategic collaboration with the Nigerian Automobile Technicians Association (NATA), Ekiti State Chapter.

The innovative sensitization program, launched on Friday, marks a significant shift in the FRSC's approach to preventing road crashes by engaging key industry stakeholders directly at the grassroots level.

The event, held in Ekiti, saw the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Sanya Adeoye MCILT, FCIPurS, leading a robust discussion with NATA members.

Corps Commander Adeoye emphasized that many road crashes, particularly those linked to brake failures, mechanical deficiencies, and breakdowns, can be traced back to inadequate vehicle maintenance and the use of counterfeit or substandard parts.

"Safety on our roads begins in the workshop, not just on the highways," he stated, highlighting the pivotal role automobile technicians play in ensuring vehicle roadworthiness.

This initiative underscores the FRSC's commitment to expanding its preventive strategies beyond traditional enforcement and public education to include industry players whose decisions directly impact road safety.

The sensitization program delivered a powerful message to NATA members: the use of genuine parts is not only a safety imperative but also a cornerstone of professional integrity.
