Don't compare Okpebholo with Obaseki

As a mathematician, I am aware that parallel lines are two horizontal lines separated by quantum space.

No matter the distance you extend them, they will never meet. Never!! So, it is with former Governor Godwin Obaseki and current Governor Monday Okpebholo. A mismatch of physical, spiritual, emotional, psychosocial and moral vibration widely separates the two of them making it analogically worthless to compare them.

Okpebholo, for instance, is a sweet, delectable apple in contrast not comparison to Obaseki the acidic, tartaric unripe lemon.

In elementary chemistry, also, we say Okpebholo is a metal on a higher level of the Electrochemical Series while Obaseki is at the lower level. Invariably, during a Governance 'chemical' reaction Okpebholo will always displace Obaseki.

So far, so good for our theoretical orientation. Now let the facts and logic speak for themselves.

Obaseki was on a mission to privatise tuition fees at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. He drastically reduced subvention of the school to N41 million annually. Lecturers who challenged his diabolical plans were sacked. Okpebholo came with empathy. He increased the subvention to N500 million. In addition, he recalled the dismissed staff of the institution.

As it this is not enough, Okpebholo is planning to build a 1,500 lecture theatre and a 600-bed hostel for the school. Given all these productive, humane activities of Okpebholo in less than a year in office, are you not a logical illiterate with misplaced warped analytical, cognitive skills to compare Obaseki with the performing Okpebholo? Is there any use comparing kind Okpebholo with a wicked Obaseki?

Also, recall that Obaseki deployed profit-seeking consultants to run some agencies. One of them in the waste management sector employed 360 poor, casual cleaners that were paid pittance.

When Okpebholo became on board with his social welfarist package, he gave the workers permanent employment entitled to his new full minimum wage of N75,000 monthly. This isn't all. Okpebholo similarly, transfered 5000 casual EDOSTAR teaching fellows of Obaseki parentage to permanent civil service status.

More 3000 teachers will also be recruited soon.

From the foregoing, you can see that Obaseki was an archetypical hard, heartless and elitist neo- liberal capitalist exploited of the working class in Edo and a lover of oppressive cheap labour. In contrast, Okpebholo showcases a governor committed to an egalitarian policy that elevates the livelihoods of many poor people.

In less than one year, he has added much more meaningful, significant values to peoples' careers, vocations and professions than Obaseki did in 8 years.

Before the arrival of Okpebholo, only a negligible Edo indigenes and residents could cough out N13000 before they could see a doctor for treatment at Edo Specialist Hospital, Beñin. This is what Obaseki decreed before he flèd to self-exile. But now the table has turned 360 degrees.

Under Okpebholo, medicare at the hospital is now cheaply accessible, available and affordable.

There is so much documented inanities of Obaseki revealing that he was a spoiler while in office which will be paraded when Okpebholo celebrates his monumental one year as governor.

But let me say certain things. Unlike Obaseki who forgets ancestral roots and humble beginnings, Okpebholo holds them dearly to his large, accommodating chest. For instance, to help Obaseki correct his deliberate wrongdoings in his Oke- Nisi ancestral home Okpebholo has taken development there.

Moreover, Okpebholo has facilitated the rehabilitation of his own alma mater Ujabholo Grammar School in Ewessan, Irrua in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State using clean social corporate Chinese governance.

Tell me, finally, can you compare Obaseki that claims perfection in governance and pathologically hates criticisms to Okpebholo who welcomes critics with open arms because he accepts that he is fallible, being human.

Therefore, let us give Okpebholo his full due, today. Don't ever compare the Lilliputian Obaseki to him.
