Abeokuta, Ogun – In a heartfelt plea amid Ogun's infrastructure woes, a prominent cleric has implored Governor Dapo Abiodun to prioritize the rehabilitation of a dilapidated 30-year-old road plagued by potholes and erosion.

The appeal highlights the toll on commuters and traders along the vital artery, fueling calls for swift state intervention.

Reverend (Dr.) Ezekiel Ayodele, founder of Genesis Global Deliverance Ministries, penned an open letter to Abiodun, decrying the road's "near-total collapse" after three decades of neglect.

Stretching key segments in Ogun's economic belt, the highway once a lifeline for agriculture and commerce now endangers lives with gaping craters and flooding risks, per the Punch article.

"This is not just asphalt; it's the backbone of our people's livelihood," Ayodele wrote, sharing photos of stranded vehicles and impassable stretches.

The cleric's missive aligns with mounting complaints from residents in areas like Sagamu and Ijebu-Ode.

Ayodele proposed a public-private partnership model, drawing from Abiodun's recent N100 billion road renewal pledge, and volunteered his ministry's logistics for community oversight.

Governor Abiodun's administration, which flagged off 50km of repairs in October, has yet to respond officially.

Spokesman Kayode Osinbajo noted: "The governor is committed; assessments are underway."
