3 Things Every Nigerian Community Needs Right Now

My people,

I greet you as your brother, as Eze Igbu Ogbor I of Ihuowo Community, Ahoada East LGA, Rivers State, and as a servant of this land. I walked through our villages, sat under our trees, and listened to our mothers, fathers, and youths. The cry is the same everywhere: “What do we need now?”

After prayer and reflection, I see 3 things every Nigerian community needs right now:

1. Unity That Puts Community Above Self.

Division has stolen more from us than any enemy could. When a community fights over tribe, party, or personal interest, development dies. But when we stand as one — Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, minority, youth, elder — we become too strong to break. Unity is not agreeing on everything.

Unity is agreeing that our community must move forward together. Without unity, no road will last, no school will thrive, and no peace will hold.

2. Empowerment That Gives Youth a Reason to Stay.

Our greatest treasure is not oil under the soil. It is the energy, ideas, and fire in our young people. Right now, too many feel forgotten. Idle hands become restless hands. Every community must create real skills, real jobs, and real hope. We must teach them farming, tech, trades, and business. We must give them grants, mentorship, and a seat at the table. When a young man can feed his family with dignity at home, he won’t risk his life abroad.

Empower the youth, and you secure the future.


3. Service-Driven Leadership With Integrity.

Leadership is not a crown to wear. It is a cross to carry. Our communities need leaders who serve first and talk less. Leaders who build clinics before billboards. Leaders who account for every kobo of community money. Leaders who visit the sick, listen to the widow, and protect the weak.

When the people trust their leaders, they will follow. When leaders serve with integrity, God’s blessing will rest on that land.

My Brothers and sisters, government alone cannot build our communities. The palace alone cannot do it. It takes all of us. Elders must guide with wisdom. Youths must work with strength. Women must nurture with love. Leaders must serve with honesty.

If we get these 3 right — Unity, Empowerment, and Integrity, no challenge will be too big for us. Our communities will not just survive. They will flourish.
