Edo Strengthens Security with Modernized Command and Control Centre

Benin, Edo – The Edo State Government under Governor Monday Okpebholo has intensified efforts to enhance security across the state through the expansion and modernization of the Edo State Command and Control Centre.
The initiative forms a key part of the administration’s SHINE Agenda and is anchored on intelligence-led policing, rapid response capabilities, and the deployment of modern technological infrastructure.
According to a statement by Haruna Braimoh, Special Advisor on public affairs and media, the revitalized Command and Control Centre is designed to improve intelligence gathering, public engagement, and coordinated responses to security threats.
It will serve as a central hub for real-time monitoring and emergency dispatch.
The government outlined key priorities for the centre, including:
• Infrastructure Modernization: Upgrading digital communication systems, surveillance technology, and integrated monitoring networks to enable faster incident reporting and prompt emergency responses.
• Integrated Security Strategy: Positioning the centre within the broader Project SHINE security framework, emphasizing intelligence-driven operations, inter-agency collaboration, and community participation.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Creating a platform for residents to easily report emergencies and share credible security information with law enforcement agencies.
The statement noted that the administration is making significant investments in digital security infrastructure while providing sustained operational support to security agencies in tackling kidnapping, cult-related violence, armed robbery, and other criminal activities.
Governor Okpebholo’s administration described security as a continuous and collective responsibility, saying the ongoing reforms are already yielding measurable improvements in public safety.
The governor reiterated his commitment to building a safer, more secure, and investment-friendly Edo State where citizens and businesses can thrive without fear.
This latest move reflects the state government’s proactive approach to addressing emerging security challenges through technology and enhanced coordination between citizens and security operatives.
