Abakaliki, Ebonyi – In a significant move to drive economic growth and development, Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State formally presented the proposed 2026 Budget Estimates, dubbed the "Budget of Actualization and Hope," to the people of Ebonyi State on Monday, November 24, 2025.
The Town Hall event, held at the Christian Ecumenical Centre in Abakaliki, marked a pivotal moment in the state’s fiscal planning, with the budget pegged at over ₦800 billion.
Addressing a diverse gathering of stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community leaders, civil society groups, and private sector representatives, Governor Nwifuru emphasized the inclusive nature of the budget formulation process.
"This budget reflects the true aspirations of our people, shaped by your valued input and commitment," he stated, highlighting the administration’s dedication to transparent and participatory governance.
A standout feature of the 2026 Budget Proposal is the planned establishment of a state-owned cement factory, a transformative project aimed at boosting industrial growth, creating jobs, and expanding the state’s revenue base.
The governor underscored that this initiative aligns with the state’s vision for sustainable development and economic self-reliance.
The budget, which is set to be formally presented to the Ebonyi State House of Assembly later today, Tuesday, November 25, 2025, represents one of the most comprehensive financial plans in the state’s history.
Governor Nwifuru expressed confidence that, with the support of the citizens, the budget would be implemented 100 percent, promising tangible impacts across infrastructure and human capital development by the end of his tenure.
The civic engagement session was a testament to the administration’s commitment to involving the populace in governance.
Looking ahead, the governor announced a 27-day commissioning exercise scheduled for May 1 to 27, 2026, during which President Bola Tinubu is expected to visit Ebonyi State at least four times to inaugurate no fewer than ten major projects.
This event is poised to blend governance achievements with political momentum as the state gears up for future electoral cycles.
Governor Nwifuru called for unity and support, urging residents to back the state’s ambitious development trajectory.
"Together, we will actualize our shared dreams and build the Ebonyi State we all hope for," he declared, invoking blessings on the state.
As the budget moves to the legislative phase today, all eyes will be on the Ebonyi State House of Assembly to see how this financial blueprint will translate into concrete development projects.
For now, the "Budget of Actualization and Hope" stands as a bold promise of a brighter future for Ebonyi State.
